Annie Adams Scrapbook Feb 1921: Wilbur and Victor Adams Engaged. The engagements of Wilbur and Victor Adams, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Adams, 2244 Thirteenth street, to Mildred Hyde and Marion Randall, both of Denver respectively, will be formally announced by the mothers of the young ladies, Monday, it is understood here. Wilbur Adams is a graduate of the University of Colorado school of law, and recently resigned his position at Prep school where he was a member of the faculty, to enter a law firm in Denver. Victor Adams is in his senior year of the medical school at Denver. Both boys are well known and popular in Boulder, being graduates of Prep school, where they were prominent in athletics and two of the mainstays on previous Varsity football teams. Wilbur Adams was coach fro the Prep warriors during the past season. Both are members of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at the University. Miss Hyde is a popular member of Delta Gamma sorority. Miss Randall is a member of Delta Delta Delta and a junior in the college of liberal arts.

Jan 18, 1921: Coach Adams Resigns and Will Practice Law. Wilbur Adams resigns his position as instructor in civics at the State Preparatory school this week to take up the practice of law in the office of John Rush in Denver. The latter was formerly district attorney of Denver, is the author of the Home--Rule amendment to the state constitution and was one of the ablest lawyers in the Rocky Mountain region. Mr. Adams has several other offers but preferred to become associated with a man of Mr. Rush's reputation and ability. Mr. Adams graduated from the University of Colorado law school last June. After taking the state bar examinations he accepted a position as an instructor at Prep and coach of the football team. He had fine success with the football team and was presented with a fine watch locket and chain as a token of appreciation for his services. He was formerly captain of the university football team and took a leading part in all student activities. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Adams of this .....

Wilbur Adams accepts postion in law office of leading Fr. Collins firm. Wilbur Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs Guy Adams of this city, has been offered a fine opening in the law office of Lee & Shaw in Fort Collins and has it under consideration., Mr. Adams is a graduate of the University of Colorado and is now practicing in a law office in Denver. He is making good in his chosen profession and is spoken of very highly by those who have come in contact with him in courts and his law office. Mr. Shaw is the new chairman of the Republican central committee. Since the above was written it was learned that Mr. Admas has accepted and will begin work April 17th.

Wilbur Adams and May Eddins Wed. As a surprise to their friends here comes announcement of the marriage yesterday of Wilbur Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Adams of this city, and Miss May Eddins, former popular University girl. The couple were married yesterday at either Tarrytown, N.Y. or New York City. A telegram from Mr. Adams to his mother today informed her that the event had taken place but guarded language was used but the secret might leak out to friends. As Mr. Adams' recent departure east on a "business trip" looked somewhat suspicious to his close acquaintances lere, they plied Mr. Adams with questions and the announcement was forthcoming. Mr. Adams and his bride are enroute here. They will stop at Washington and Chicago and expect to reach Boulder next Tuesday. After a brief visit here they will go on to Fort Collins, where Mr. Adams is in the law offices of Lee & Shaw, and will establish their home in that city. Mr. and Mrs. Adams met while both were attending the University. Their engagement was announced last Thanksgiving. Mr. Adams is so well known here as to make any extended sketch of his life superflous. He was born at the present home of his parents, 2244 Thirteenth street, being a twin with his brother Victor, who was married here last July and who is now an interne at St. Joseph's hospital, Denver. He attend grade schools here and then entered Prep. He was the captain of the football team and active among many lines of student endeavor. Going on to the University he captained the Silver and Gold eleven and took a prominent place in the life of the campus. He is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity, Heart and Dagger, honorary senior society, and numerous other organizations of student life. Following his graduation here, he spent a year in the law offices of Rush and Kline at Denver, after which he went to Fort Collins. Mr. Adams was a popular student at the University. She formerly lived in Denver, where she was graduated from East Denver High school. Her folks having moved to Tarrytown, N.Y. , she has been living there with them.

Wilbur Adams to move to New York. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Adams, who have been visiting in Boulder at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Adams since Monday, left Boulder today for New York City where Mr. Adams will in all probabilty accept a position in the sales department of the General Motors company. Mr. and Mrs. Adams only recently returned to Colorado from their honeymoon, spending some time at Fort Collins, where Mr. Adams has for the past year been engaged in the practice of law in the offices of Lee and Shaw. Mrs. Adams before her marriage was Miss May Eddins of Tarrytown, N.Y., formerly of Denver. D. S. Eddins, Mrs. Adams' father, is in charge of sales for the Chevrolet branch of General Motors over the entire Eastern department, extending from Maine to Florida. Mr. Adams, the son of Concilman and Mrs. Guy Adams, is well known in Boulder. He is a University law school graduate and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, social, and numerous other fraternities while in school here. He was also prominetly identified in athletics, being a "C" football man.

Friday, April 6, 1923. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Adams have left for New York to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur W. Adams left this morning for New York where they will make their home either in New York city or at Tarry-town-on-the-Hudson. Mrs. Adams' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eddins reside in the latter city and Mr. Eddins is very anxious that Mr. Adams become associated with him in the automobile business. Mr. Adams prefers law, however, and hopes to continue his profession. Mr. Adams has been associated with the firm of Lee & Shaw at Fort Collins since last fall. Prior to that he was in the office of Rush & Cline .

Friday, March 26, 1937. Wilbur W. Adams Dies in Hospital at Grand Rapids. Was Son of Mrs. Annie Adams of Boulder And Former C. U. Football Captain. Wilbur Wolf Adams, 41, son of Mrs. Annie S. Adams of this city, died yesterday in a hospital at Grand Rapids, Mich. Blood infection resulting from a tooth of a broken jaw, suffered in Boulder years ago was the cause of death. Mr. Adams was recently transferred from Toledo to Grand Rapdis as head of the General Motors Acceptance Corporation. He had been with the company for years. His mother and twin brother, Dr. Victor K. Adams of Manzanola, Colo. were en route to his bedside. When Mrs. Adams left Boulder Tuesday she had planned to remain in Denver but a telegram stating that there was only a slight chance of his recovery, caused her to accompany her son. At Mr. Adams' beside was his wife, the former Mae Eddins and her father, D. S. Eddins, president of the Plymouth Corporation and member of the Chrysler board of directors. Mr. and Mrs. Adams have a daughter Veramae, age 13. Mr. Adams was born in Boulder and was a graduate of the schools of the city. He held two degrees from the University, bachler of arts, obtained in 1918, and bachelor of law, in 1920. His education was interrupted by the war for, like many others, he withdrew from school to enter the army. He won a commission of second lieutenant, infantry. While attending the University he was a member of the football tem for three years and became its captain in 1917. He was vice-president of the Associated Students in 1919-20; president of the Combined Juniors; president of the Y.M.C.A. and prominent in the Boosters club. He belonged to Phi Delta Phi, Heart and Dagger and Sigma Phi Epsilon. Mr. Adams taught at Prep, 1919-20, while taking his law work. His wife was a former C. U. student. His father, Guy Adams, was a former Boulder police magistrate. He died in September, 1933. His mother is one of the most popular women in Boulder, being prominent in church, hospital, charity and lodge work. The funeral will be held at 2:30 Monday at the Eddins home, 19, 504 Rendrew road, Detroit.

Wilbur W. Adams Buried Today In Columbia Cemetery. The body of Wilbur Wolf Adams was brought back to Boulder today to be laid beside his father Guy A. Adams in the family lot in Columbia Cemetery. Mr. Adams, manager of the Grand Rapids, Mich. office of the General Motors Acceptance corporation, died in March. His body, which had been in a mansoleum in Detroit, was accompanied to Boulder by his widow, the former Mae Eddins, her mother, Mrs. D. S. Eddins and by Mr. and Mrs. Adams' daughter, Veramae. Mrs. Adams and daughter and Mrs. Eddins are going on to San Diego after a stay here to visit a brother, Earl Eddins. Dr. Victor K. Adams, twin brother of the deceased and Mrs. Adams came from Manzanola, Colo. Their daughters Mary Jo and Betty have been with their grandmotherr, Mrs. Anna S. Adams. Theo. Strawnhn of Denver, an uncle of the deceased and Mrs. Strawhn came from Denver for the services as did William Reno, manager of the Denver office of the General Motors Acceptance corporation and Lou Vidal. They were classmates of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur W. Adams in the University. A. Kelton of Denver, a friend of the Eddins, was also here. Masons in Charge at the Grave. A Masonic funeral service was held at the grave by Colorado lodge 14, A.F.&A.M. with H. O. Andrews acting as worshipful grand master. Rev. Rufus C. Baker, pastor of the Methodist church gave the prayer. Pallbearers were Dr. Ira M. DeLong, William Arthur, Jr., D.E. McAllister, A.A. Paddock, Henry M. Sayre, Paul Smith, Theo. Strawhn and Clifford S. Dunham. Mr. Adams was born in Boulder and made an outstanding record in all of the schools, and was a leader in his civic and church life. He was captain of the 1917 University of Colorado football team; was vice president of the Combined Juniors, active in the Y.M.C.A. of the University and also of the city. New & View GMAC April 1937, p 43: W.W. Adams---T. H. Smith. The Corporation mourns the Passing of a loyal Branch Manager and also a Veteran of the Treasurer's Department. Death invaded GMAC ranks twice late last month, and the corporation grieves in the passing on March 24 of Wilbur W. Adams, branch manger, Grand Rapids, and T. H. Smith, attached to the Treasurer's staff, on March 26. Mr. Adams was a twelve year man who began his GMAC career in 1925 as a collector in the Detroit branch. After taking the normal promotions, he was made assistant manager at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1930, going from there to Mr. Blackmore's Executive Office staff. In 1931, he became manager of the operation at Toledo, which was first a purchase office and later a field branch. From Toledo he went to Grand Rapids to take over the management of the control branch there on December 1, 1936. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maye Eddins Adams, and Vera Maye, a thirteen year old daughter. Mrs. Adams is the daughter of D. S. Eddins, formerly president of the Olds Motor Works, and now president of the Plymouth Motor Company. Five GMAC managers, whom Mr. Adams had grown up with and worked with in GMAC, and W. J. Kennedy, regional manager, were the pallbearers. Local unit and GMAC men also attended the chapel service which was held in Detroit March 29. In addition to Mr. Kennedy, Branch Managers Hourihan, Schuette, Yewell, Herring and Ackerman, as well as E. L. Siggins of the Executive Office, were present. The career of T. H. Smith ........., Both of these men wee friends of the editor of these pages, and we cannot refrain from a few personal reminiscences about them. Bill Adams was a graduate of the University of Colorado, where with his twin brother, he was a football player of star calibre. Hew was one of those natively quiet persons who face life with a complete honesty that asks no favots. He worked hard, gave to General Motors an unremitting loyalty and, to his family, an abiding devotion. To the members of the Executive Office and his collegues, the branch mangers in the field, he lived up to the quality of friendship inherent in the implication of his first name-he was Bill to all of us, with all the afftionate connotations of the word, and we shall remember him best that way.

Adams, 41, of 1620 Mackinac-dr., S.E., branch manager of the General Motors Acceptance corporation here since Nov. 1, died Thursday in Butterworth hospital after a brief illness. Adams was born in Boulder, Colo., was graduated from the law department of the University of Colorado and had been with the G.M.A.C. 12 years. Previous to his assignment here, he was with the Toledo, Ohio, office. Adams leaves the widow, Mrs. Maye Adams; a daughter, Miss Vera Mae; a brother, Dr. Victor K. of Manzanola, Colo., and his mother, Mrs. Guy H. Adams of Boulder. The body is at Metcalf's mortuary.

He m 22 Feb 1923 Mae Eddins, dau of Mr. & Mrs. D.S. Eddins, in Tarrytown-on-the-Hudson, NY. i. Veramae Adams, b in 1924, was age 13 when her dad died in March 1937. In Sept 1928 Wilbur and Mae and their daughter (Veramae) came to visit Guy and Annie from their home in Detroit, MI. Wilbur "made an outstanding record on all of the schools in Boulder and was a leader in civic and church life. He was captain of the 1917 University of Colorado football team; was vice-president of the Combined Juniors, active on the Y.M.C.A. of the University, bachelor of arts in 1918 and bachelor of laws in 1920, and gave distinguished service in the World War." He belonged to Phi Delta Phi fraternity, Heart and Dagger, and Sigma Phi Epsilon at CU. He taught at the State Preparatory School in Boulder (now Boulder High School) in 1919-1920 while taking his law work. In May 1917 Will was designated a member of the Fort Riley training camp for the Officers' Reserve Corps. In Jan 1921, soon after resigning his position as teacher at the Prep School, Wilbur went to Denver to begin his duties as a member of legal firm of Rush and Cline. When he married, Wilbur was working as an attorney with the firm of Lee & Shaw in Ft. Collins, CO. After his honeymoon, he and Mae moved to New York where he took and passed the bar exam and accepted a position in the sales department of General Mortors Company. Wilbur became manager of the Grand Rapids, MI office of the General Motors Acceptance Corporation. "His record with the General Motors Acceptance Corporation was outstanding and he received repeated promotions." Mae, his wife, was a popular student at the University and had many friends. Her father, D.S. Eddins, was a member of the board of the Chrysler Corporation. Wilbur died from blood poisoning resulting from an infected tooth in a broken jaw suffered in Boulder many years earlier. There was a Masonic funeral service at his grave here in Boulder 22 July 1937 by Colorado Lodge 14, A.F. & A.M. with H. O. Andrew acting as Worshipful Grand Master. Rev. Rufus C. Baker, pastor of the Methodist church, gave the prayer.
