Newspaper clipping sent by Barbara Platte, Veramae's cousin: Chester Elbert Blanton Former City of Grosse Pointe resident Chester Elbert Blanton died on Monday, Jan 5, 1998, in Naples, Fla. Mr. Blanton, 89, was a graduate of the Georgia Military Academy and the Harvard Business School. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps as a second lieutenant and left the service as a major. A vice president and manager of Hudson's budget stores for 40 years, Mr. Blanton was also a member of the Detroit Athletic Club, the Country Club of Detroit and the Detroit Golf Club. Mr. Blanton is survived by three nieces, Barbara Knopf, Annie Davis and Nancy Henderson; six great-nieces; two great-nephews; three great-great-nieces; and one great-great-nephew. Hew was predeceased by his wife, Veramae. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Beachwood Society of Naples, Fla.
